Below are some links to places I'd recommend visiting! Listed in no particular order.

Set Side B - This blog updates nearly every day. Sometimes it's a longer article, and others it's a link to an interesting YouTube video.

Thrilling Tales of Old Video Games - Every article on this website is well-researched and interesting. There's a wealth of info here on old video game topics.

Hungry Goriya - That link is to her blog, but it's her YouTube page that's really the standout. She plays a lot of retro games and gives thoughtful video essays about why they are or aren't worth you or their time.

Indie Gamer Chick - The Indie Gamer Chick has been writing gaming articles for a long time now, including stuff about retro gaming as well, not all her writing is on indie stuff.

Press the Buttons - This was a good gaming blog, though sadly it is not updated anymore as the author passed away. EDIT: and it looks like the site may be down now? : (

Yokoi Kids - Every month they pick a different Game Boy title and encourage everyone to play it and talk about it online. I think the discussion was mostly done through Twitter, so that's a bit messy right now. But the posts about each game are good reads, and it's worth playing along getting introduced to some new titles!

Deja View - This is the blog of Disney animator Andrew Dejas. He's done amazing work at his time with Disney, and he's a real animation buff. His blog is full of classic Disney stories, sketches and tidbits. If you're interested in animation, definitely give this a look!

Nerdy Teachers - A great site for learning how to make games for the Pico-8 fantasy retro console! Tutorials, pixel art, a Pico-8 zine, this site has a ton of fun resources.

Aftermath - This is probably one of the best video game news sites left out there. Their articles are often thoughful and well researched, instead of relying on up-to-the second news like IGN or Polygon.

Rabidrodent - Has a great list of Halloween NES and SMS games! Also check out their NES CHR page, which showcases games that used background tile switching to make great animated sprites!

Leek's Cosy Corner - A great blog about cosy gaming

Kid Fenris - Great video game articles, I can really get lost reading one after the other here! I’ve also added lots of games to my to play backlog thanks to them talking about all these games I’ve missed!

Dinosaur Dracula - Is there anyone in retro pop culture who DOESN’T know who Matt from Dinosaur Dracula/X-Entertainment is? Lots of great articles about all sorts of things from our childhood, and co-host to the Purple Stuff Podcast.

Localghost - Sophie talks about gaming, tech, and the small web. A fun site to check out, and well made with some fun CSS going on.

Made with no AI! Human friendly.
